The festival that began in honor of
those famous fainting goats of Marshall County returns for its 11th
year at Rock Creek Park in Lewisburg, TN on September 26, 27 & 28, 2013
with Tennessee and Music Legend Charlie Daniels performing live on the Rock
Creek Park stage.
The Goats, Music and More Festival has
been honored by the Southeast Tourism Society as a Top 20 Event for October
twice with its unique southern flavor, top-notch free musical entertainment,
goat shows that celebrate fainting and Boer goats, food of every description,
arts and crafts, kids games and
activities.
Coming to the stage this year will be
the legendary Charlie Daniels Band. During Charlie Daniels 50-year career, he
has scored hits on the rock, country, pop and Christian charts and counts his
awards from the Country Music Association (CMA), Academy of Country Music
(ACM), TNN/Music City News Awards, and the Gospel Music Association (GMA) among
his many accolades. Born in Wilmington, NC, he was raised on a musical diet
that included Pentecostal gospel, local bluegrass bands, rhythm &
blues, and country music from the radio, including Nashville’s 650 WSM.
His signature song, “The Devil Went Down
to Georgia,” topped both country and pop charts, bringing him international
acclaim.
CDB will also be signing a special
guitar to be raffled in order to benefit Team Brandon. Brandon Bradley is the
local 17-year-old recently diagnosed with leukemia. Before all the sickness and
doctors, Brandon was a Life-Guard at the local Lewisburg Recreation Center and an
active youth in the First Baptist Church of Lewisburg. He is going into his
Senior year of High School and he is an outstanding, genuine, and kind-hearted
guy. Come and take your chance at winning an autographed guitar by Charlie
Daniels and help to benefit Brandon and his family. A booth from Team Brandon
with the guitar will be set up at the festival and you can find out more about
Team Brandon on facebook at www.facebook.com/teambrandon96/info.
So, this is one you won’t want to miss
as CDB hits the stage at Rock Creek Park for a free concert event beginning 8
p.m. on Saturday, September 28.
The music will keep the stage happening
from Thursday night and all day Friday and Saturday and all the musical events are free. Local favorites, The Entice Band,
will bring the music that moves you Friday night. The Entice Band has been
getting people up on their feet all across Tennessee and they will surely make
you move when they hit the stage Friday night, September 27. So, bring a lawn
chair and make room to dance the days and nights away.
The real stars
of the festival take the show tents on Friday and Saturday with the Rock Creek
Classic Myotonic Goat Show, the World Grand Champion Fainting Goat Show and 3
ABGA Boer Goat Shows. The Rock Creek Classic Myotonic Goat Show takes place on
Friday, September 27 along with the Southern Middle TN ABGA Boer Goat Show. The
World Grand Champion Fainting Goat Show happens Saturday, September 28 along
with two Southern Middle TN ABGA Boer Goat Shows.
Vendors of all
kinds will line the road at Rock Creek Park beginning Friday morning with
anything and everything from fainting goat memorabilia to unique and artistic
trinkets of all kinds. There is always great food, arts and crafts, unique
products and more along the Rock Creek Park venue.
And for the
